About

Daniel Dickinson, 2020

As you can tell, this site is not about my code or professional life — for that see https://www.wildtechgarden.ca, with some tech-politics and ‘personal but not really (like a résumé)’ content on https://www.danielfdickinson.ca. This is my personal political site, with my (mostly) political concerns and opinion, and I can be far too opinionated at times. Nonetheless I do try to listen to others and evaluate whether I might be wrong, when having a reasonable discussion with someone.

I’ve had quite an interesting (read challenging) life and managed to do some pretty good work despite all of that. On this site, however, I am mostly focused on topics that are either personal and political or opinion, rather than ‘real work’ like firmware development, web development, work history, and the various professional and hobby activities that are what far too many folks see as the only things that make a person’s life valuable or make a person’s life matter.

I like to think of myself as an early digital native (since the 80’s, while I was in public school). I had the opportunity to work with Commodore 64’s in Grades 6 to 8 and was working on an exotic assembly language program before I was in Grade 9. This passion for technology is one of the reasons I am happy the Midland Public Library now has the MakerPlace.

I hope you enjoy browsing around this site for the insights (or lack thereof) offered along with lots opining, and even oddities like recipes mixed with politics.
